Insurance coverage or reimbursement

You may also use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (Flex account). Note: some HSA accounts  may have limitations for couples therapy so find out now to avoid any surprises and communicate this to your therapist. Many insurance companies have chosen not to reimburse for marriage counseling or sex therapy.

There is no stigma in seeking counseling, however, one reason therapy is so powerful is because it is a truly private experience. We are out-of-network providers for most PPO plans, and can provide you the needed form for seeking reimbursement from your insurance company. We will discuss your needs for privacy are happy to answer any questions you have about how to maintain your privacy while utilizing your insurance. It is for this reason (and many others) that we have declined to be in-network providers for any insurance company.

As an out-of-network provider we can decide how much, if any, information you want shared with your insurance company.  If you would like assistance with reimbursement for out of network services, BETTER is an app that can help.  Ask your therapist for more information if interested. If you file for out-of-network reimbursement, your insurance has the right to audit your records. This may not happen but we want you to make informed decisions. Please be aware insurance companies will require a mental health diagnosis and may request information about your treatment including documentation.

If you would like to utilize your health plan or out of network benefits, we recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to help determine your benefits. It may be helpful to ask the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits? What are my out-of-network  mental  health benefits? (if your potential therapist is out of network)

  •  Does my health plan cover marriage counseling or sex therapy?

  • What is my coverage with (a particular therapist)?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet? This is so you will know how much out of pocket you will pay before your insurance starts contributing.

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I have? If so, what is the limit?

Payment

We accept cash, checks, Flex or HSA cards,  and all major credit cards as forms of payment, due at the time of service.

Cancellation Policy

We reserve your session time just for you.  If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand so your counselor can open that reserved spot for others. Otherwise, you may be charged the full session fee, as determined by each therapist.
